The Pursuit of Education

Based on your knowledge of Social Studies and the article, "The Price of Going to School," explain why the pursuit of education should be an unalienable right.

  1. The pursuit of education should be an unalienable right. Many girls in Afghanistan may have the dream of becoming a Doctor or Teacher. In America girls are born with an unalienable right, that cannot be taken away. In America we start school at the age of five, and finish school at the age of twenty. On the other hand, girls in Afghanistan are so late in starting school. "Some are in their late teens and early twentys, attending school for the first time". This is a reason why Afghanistan is poor. "In Afghanistan, one of the world's poorest countries, more than 80 percent of the women are illiterate". In order to survive and have good life expectancy, girls should be educated. Afghanistan girls should have the right to be educated, and go to school without fear. Education should be an unalienable right all over the world.

  2. The pursuit of education should be and unalienable right because people should be allowed to follow their dreams and overcome poverty through the knowledge they gain from school. Girls should not have to struggle to go to school or go to school with the fear of getting acid thrown on their face just because they want a better future for themselves. Women shouldn’t have to attend school when they are 18 or even 20 they should be able to be brought up with education from a young age. If you live in poverty you can dig yourself out through education and help your family and have a better life. Women should be able to overcome themselves and not live behind a mans shadow they should be able to get and education and earn their own money. If women had the rights to go to school then the economy eventually get a lot better therefore creating an educational revolution that could change these countries from developing to developed over the course of time. The pursuit of an education as an unalienable right can be the start to a great positive change in these regions of the world.

    The concept of education, should be an unalienable right, no matter what age, race, religion, or gender. Education should be at your grasp; without it we are nothing. Without an education none of these great people would be who they were. There would of been so many more "greats" if blacks and women of the 17 and 1800's were given an opportunity, as were the white men, who is all you really hear about, around that time.(to an extant)If from the start everyone were treated equal and were given the right to an education, this world would be 10 times more advanced as it is. And so many of our problems we face today would already be solved. But eventually the minorities were given the right, and they've sprouted up everywhere, playing the role of important people in society, making a difference. They should of been doing this, since day 1. And we, the world should learn from this, and spread the pursuit of an education, spread the knowledge to all four corners of the globe. To not only some of the people but all of the people. This world will change; the illiterate countries of the middle east would change for the good. If this vision came to a reality, all the countries of the world could drink from the cup of prosperity, If education became available for all.

Education is the begining of everything and without it, one is sure to fall behind. Education should also be an unalienable right because the girls and women in Afghanistan are being harassed every day for going to school.   8. With out education people can't make society and better than it is. In Afganistan 80% pf weman are illiterate. They can't read, write, or do anything to make life better. Without education, people are dumb. Which is what the Taliban want for the girls. People who have an education have a better life. They are happier and more succsesful. These women can learn to revolt against the Taliban with a good education. The Taliban deffinetly don't want that. So they terrorize the girls. In the text it states, " One of the teams used a spray bottle, another a squirt gun, and another a jar, to douse the women with the burning acid." The Taliban are scared of what women can do with a good education. "The people who do this do not want women to be educated. They want is to be stupid things." These women don't care, they continue to go to school.

  9. Education should be considered an unalienable right because of all the opportunities it leads to. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, are three unalienable rights that cannot be taken away from a person. Education is a way to gain a better life, insure liberty and create happiness. Women in Afghanistan have not been aloud their rights and they believe that education is the key to getting them. It opens doors for them that they other wise would not have. Education would help their society move from a developing country into a developed country and help create a higher standard of living. Without education our world can not move forward or advance for the better. Education should not be prohibited but should be enforced and encouraged.

People that don't have a lot of education don't have as much success as people with a lot of education. Some are lucky and are very successful with little education, but this rarely happens. If people strive for education why take that away from them? It is only bettering themselves for their future. This also benefits the world if we have smarter people.

  11. Getting a job is hard enough with the economy the way it is. Try getting one when your uneducated. I believe that the Pursuit of Education should be an unalienable right. All people, men or women, should have the opportunity to pursue dreams. . Only 20% of women in Afghanistan are educated. Girls in this poor country risk there lives everyday just to get an education. Without an education women have no opportunity to be successful beyond a mother or house worker. Women should not have to follow there husband around and be ordered to stay in the house without a male escort. They should have the freedom to strive towards goals and dreams. Women could even be beneficial in the work force. They could even bring new ideas to the world. The Pursuit of Education should be considered an unalienable right.

  12. Education should be considered an unalienable right for the welfare of human life. Education is important for the success of economic, social, and political welfare. A country with many illiterates is left powerless because of a poor economy. Without education a person cannot fully interact with society, and causes society to have lack of support and opportunity. It gives a person new opportunities; new views on life. With education people are able to make wise decisions on how to keep a budget, or how to spend their money.   13. Not everybody has a chance for an education. Some people have never even stepped foot in a school. Education should be an unalienable right because everyone deserves to be educated. If you have a good education, then you have a better chance at getting a job. If you get a job, you will be more to be successful. With success comes happiness and everybody is born with the right to pursue happiness. With that, education should be an unalienable right.

  14. According to my knowledge of social studies and the article, the want to persue an education should be an unalienable right. An unalienable right recognizes that each individual person is endowed, by their creator, and are given certain rights that can be described as being deprived from the laws of nature and are not given as a gift or law made by the government to say what people may or may not do. We, as americans, believe that we are given these rights that cannot be taken away, such as life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. To me, those three words say a lot more. Life is the precious gift God gave to each of us. Liberty is the ability to live without being forced to live life a certain way, so that we may each follow our own dreams and goals, such as getting an education and becoming a doctor, vet, nurse, or taking on another profession. The Persuit of happiness is a lot like wanted to receive an education. Education brings happiness to people because without it, you're lost, a lot of times jobless, and can't always support a family. Gettting that chance to learn is the most important thing you can do to turn your dreams into reality. Education is what pushes nations forward in development and technology. The persuit of education should be an unalienable right for these reasons. Education is happiness, and happiness should be alive in every person, whether they may be black, white, young, old, or even if they're kindergartners in the U.S. or Women in the middle east stepping foot in a classroom for the first time in their lives.

  16. In the middle East region, women are not allowed to go to school. If they try to go to school they may suffer consequences of acid or other hostile treatment. These women are thought of and are wanted to be "stupid things." This is why the pursuit of education should be an unalienable right, or right that cannot be taken away. These women should be able to go to school if they wish to do so. These people should not be harmed for trying to improve their lives. Studies show that only 20% of the women can read and write. Even though they are being harmed for it, these strong women keep going to school because, they know they need it to be successful in life. They should be able to make this decision for themselves. If the pursuit of education was and unalienable right, they would be able to make these decisions freely.

  17. Education should be an unalienable right because the Declaration of Independence states that everyone is created equal. Therefore everybody should have the same rights. No matter what race, gender or economic background. Every individual deserves the opportunity of being anything that they can and want to be. In addition, if education is not an equal right, it could cause a "class system". In conclusion, education is an oppurtunity that everyone should have. Therefore it should be an unalienable right.

  19. The pursuit of education should be an unalienable right beacause everyone deserves this privilege. Everyone needs a good education in order to get further in life. People who live in wealthier parts of the world often don't realize how lucky they are having the right to attend schools at such a young age. Many women in Afghanistan do not have this right. These women must attend school when they are much older and even then some of them are attacked by people who do not believe in this right. The pursuit of education should be an unalienable right because opportunities for higher education is needed all around the world.

And everyone should be able to decide how to live their life, with or without an education. Many things come along with having a good education, such as: better job opportunities, a better standard of living, and being content with the life you lead.   26. Something very important to society today is education. Without education it is very difficult to get a job. Without a steady income it is nearly impossible to provide for yourself and support a family. Every person should have the option to receive an education and learn. People should have the right to pursue a career and receive the necessary education to do so from the moment they are born. At birth a person is guaranteed certain rights; however they are not guaranteed an education. In some countries people are forbidden to attend school simply because they are women, or their culture says they shouldn’t. It is because of this that the option of education should be an unalienable right; a right that can’t be taken away.

  27. There are a couple of reasons as to why the Pursuit of Education should be an unalienable right. The first reason is simply fairness. I believe that it is only fair that everyone has the opportunity to education, even if they don't take it. Another reason is because of prejudice. Usually people are illiterate because of their race or sex. This takes me back to fairness. prejudice if completely unfair. Basically the pursuit to education should be an unalienable right because it is only fair.

With the privilage of having an education, one has more opportunities of getting a good job. When one has a good job then they are more likely to live a more pleasurable life than someone would without a decent job. Having a good career comes the necessity of getting an education, thus leading to the unalienable right of the pursuit of happiness.

The more easily influenced one is the more likely you are to become a pet to the governmet and do whatever they tell you to. Men of the taliban are throwing acid in womens faces to keep them from going to school. The taliban believes that women should not have an education. Without education women in Afghanistan have nothing. Most of these women want to make something of themselves. If education was an unalienable right women could play a big role in helping their counrty become a developed country rather than a developing country. They could also be the first women to gain their rights in this country. Educaton should be encouraged not shunned upon in Afghanistan.

  34. I believe that education should be an unalienable right because all people are created equal. In American culture and politics, the constitution states that all people are created equal. The constitution also states that all people have the right to the pursuit of happiness, which can be obtained through education. Yet, in a Muslim culture, women are not viewed the same as men. The men believe that women should not have an education because women are not equal to men in their society. This is why many men try to stop or harm girls who try to get an education. These are very different beliefs, but since I was raised in American culture, my belief is that women should have the right to an education.

It shouldn't matter what sex you are, they should be able to attend school without the worries of being in fear of acid in their face or other harmful things. One important reason why women should get an education would be to improve the standard of living of living in the Middle East. All developed countries have a very high literacy rate, which the ME doesn't have. Another reason why women should have the right to get an education would be to have the potential to get a successful job.   41. Education is a beautiful thing and should be an unalienable right. Having an education can get you far in life. With knowledge there are more oppertunities of getting better jobs that pay better than jobs with no diploma or college degree. Education is the key to digging out of poverty and living better. Taking this away is like telling someone they have no choice but to be dumb and depend on others for things as little as the basic things in life. With no education you are illiterate and thats why you need people for the simple things. Education is the main key to having a better life and every should have the opportunity work towards that. It has been shown that educated person typically gets further in life than a person with no education at all.   44. Everyone should be equal. One person should not be treated differently because of any differences they might have to the next person. Equality seems so simply true, but it's not always. Some people have more money, some people look different, some people live in different places, and you can not change any of it. With all of these varying factors, how can we give a shred of proof to show that we are in fact, equal? Education does not change throughout the world. Education is our constant, but it is denied to many people. Shamsia Husseini is denied education because she is a woman, others are denied because of their lack of money, others because of where they live. If our varying factors control our constant, how can it be a constant at all? Education should remain solid, and be offered to everyone as an unalienable right, or we can not truthfully call everyone in the world equal.

The reason I feel this way is because if a person wants to be educated then thats an advantage. The reason it is an advantage is because there will be less homeless and more intelligent people. Also being able to read and write is valuable to communicate and socialize. When a person is educated then that peron gets more respect then the not so smart person. I also believe that anybody should have the right to do something they want to do in life. Letting women not able to learn is damaging the society and womens lives because of the Countries low literacy rate.

Every one should have his or her own right to pursuit education without any problems, or harm to come to them. I say that if any country can have the pursuit of education every other one should too. It shouldn't matter if your country is poor or not as standard as we are in the U.S.. Many people around the world have the ability to learn and to acquire schooling of even any kind.   53. Why, you may ask, should education be considered an unalienable right? By definition, an unalienable right is “an entitlement that no earthly power is able to snatch out of the grasp of another person.” In the United States, unalienable rights are referred to as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In my opinion, education should be considered an unalienable right as well. “Education is the most important thing given to a person and it is impossible for it to be taken away.” While it is possible for a person to be denied an educational oppurtunity, once you have learned even the smallest fact, it is impossible for another human being or earthly force to take that knowledge away from you. The Afghanistan government system is attempting to prevent women from obtaining a proper education. They want women to be “stupid things.” The Taliban, Afghanistan’s controlling power, know that once a woman has learned even the smallest piece of information, that knowledge can never be revoked. It is virtually impossible for your education to be stolen or destroyed. You, as a person, are the only one who has the ability to take what is already learned and dispose of it by forgetfulness. Because no other human being has the ability to snatch intelligence out of your hands, education should be considered an unalienable right.

  56. Education should and must be a unalienable right. Education is vital for people and society to be able to grow and develop. Taking away someones education, takes away their chance to do something more with their lives. In America and many other developed countries we are given the chance to pursue a better life, and the chance to learn. In many developing countries, such as Afghanistan, girls are becoming illiterate and are not advancing in life, this causes them to be stuck in the poor lives they have, with no possible chance to better it. Their children will not have the opportunities to learn, creating a chain of illiteracy, having no chance for them to better their lives, their country, or our world.   58. Pursuit of education should be an unalienable right be because everyone should be given a fair chance to better themselves. When you learn you begin to think about things. You make decisions. You can become independent.
    The Taliban want the people to be stupid. They know that "ignorance is bliss." If the people of Afghanistan don't know anything about how life is in other places, they are easily controlled. They can be wooed into believing things they don't really understand. The Taliban can be the puppeteers of a nation.
    Conversely, when people, women in particular, are educated, their eyes are opened to a whole new world. They can read about other places, communicate with others, and most frightening to the Taliban, they can see through the lies they are being fed. They can stand up and revolt. They can make for themselves the lives they want. The principal of the Mirwais School puts this well: "Education is the way to improve our society."
    In our modern world, they only way you can better yourself is through education. Everyone should be given this chance. This article makes you think twice about skipping class.

The Declaration of Independence states,"...all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The right to pursue an education is associated with the pursuit of happiness. To obtain happiness you must be able to freely pursue an education. Most everyone wants to be knowledgeable and well educated. Therefor, the pursuit of an education is fundamental to the pursuit of happiness. For this reason, pursuing an education should be an unalienable right, a right that can never be taken away.

  60. Unalienable rights are rights that are promised to every human being. Since women are human, they are promised the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If getting a better education to make a better life for yourself and to have a higher standard of living is pursuiting happiness then education should be an unalienable right. If women in the Middle East where allowed to go to school without the negative influence from the government, than the standard of living would rise. Women would be allowed to get jobs and support their families, which would make each individual household a better enviroment to live in. Both men and women of the Middle East should have the unalienable right to pursuit education, without fear of the government to make their lives better.

I believe that the pursuit of education should be an unalienable right. Education is what makes the world go round, knowledge is power. That is what the Taliban in Afghanistan are afraid of. The Taliban are trying to ban school, especially for women, to keep the people blinded by ignorance and lies. If these people could get an education they would understand what is going on in their country and make a better life for themselves. The Taliban are smart for going to the root of what would cause the people to revolt and throw them out of power. It’s wrong but it’s smart. Without education the people of Afghanistan are like play-doh in the hand of the Taliban, they can do whatever they want. The Taliban want the women and girls to be stupid things as stated in the story and nearly all of the women can neither read of write because they didn't go to school. Unalienable rights are the rights that cannot be taken away from you, so if the pursuit of education becomes an unalienable right then any woman or girl could go to school and get their education, maybe even get a good paying job even though they are poor.

Like in the article "The Price is Right", that is not fair that we can go to school without any thing happening to us, but in Afghanistan while they are on their way to school the Taliban men sprayed them with acid and literally messed their whole face up.The Taliban men are trying to stop women from getting their education.Women there start school at the age of 20 for the first time. When American girls start school at age 5, we start to learn how to spell our name,and say our ABC's. We are taught our manners and things and its not fair to Afghanistan women that we can do those things. Everyone should have the right to make their lives better!

The common saying "knowledge is power" never fails to be true. Even sports stars need very well educations along with actors, musicians and politicians. In the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson states that all people have the right to the pursuit of happiness. Education is one of the key elements to happiness. If you have a very uneducated population then you will not go fourth to becoming a developed population. Education is an equalizer between people and puts them at the same level. You could have a poor man and a rich man and they are both educated then they are equal. The pursuit of happiness is the pursuit of education and that should be an unalienable right given to all.
