  46. 1.How has Greek and Roman culture influenced Europe, and in fact America?
The Greeks and Romans influenced Europe and America in many ways and still continues today. The Greeks gave us mathematics. They invented geometry. The United States and Europe still study geometry in schools. The Romans invented a government based on democracy. The US uses this form of government. They also invented the belief of Christianity. That is still the main religion in both of these two places.

  47. Greece and Rome were both major superpowers during their respective eras, although they are no longer world superpowers their influence still stretches across Europe and even into America. Their large reign of power led to them having heavy influence on history, resulting in a heavy influence on culture all around the world. Both very advanced society's for their time, they founded practices still being used today. For instance Rome was the first society to have a federalist government, with a central capital and ruler along with regional authorities. Although we have a democratic government instead of a monarchy, we do have a strong central government base (Washington D.C.), and many regional governments and officials. The Greeks were the first to hold the Olympics, something many American athletes aspire to someday partake in. The artwork, and architecture from both Greece and Rome are very famous, and still effect society today. Most Greek art was in the form of statues, vases, and architecture. Rome also had a very rich culture in the art aspect. The languages of the Roman and Greek empires may not be widely spoken across Europe, but many origins of words spoken in English can be traced back to Latin, and Greek roots. Many folktales, and myths from Greek culture are still widely circulated today. While we see them as myths, the ancient Greeks believed the stories were about their divine Gods who ruled over them from Mount Olympus. The Romans built the highly visited city of Rome, thousands of tourists visit there every year. This alone is a large cultural impact, the architecture of the famed buildings, and statues of the city are icons all around the world. Through their contributions, and never fading imprints on our world, their ancient civilizations will never be forgotten. We can still see traces of their society everywhere, even in Texas.
